New Updates

We have officially submitted an application and made payment for registration with the Clans of Ireland. The Finte na hÉireann was established in 1989 by Rory O'Connor (Kerry) as an independent permanent organisation to deal with the affairs of Irish Clans. Clans of Ireland maintains a Register of Irish Clans and affords clans with an opportunity to communicate and interact with each other. Clans of Ireland is regularly consulted by government agencies, historical and cultural interest groups, the media and the general public on matters relevant to Irish Clans and Families. We also maintain a positive working relationship with the Standing Council of Irish Chiefs and Chieftains.

The main objectives of Finte na hÉireann ~ Clans of Ireland are:

  •  To take actions in the interest of Irish Clans and Families or individual Clans as maybe appropriate
  •  To publish the Register of Irish Clans # To advise Irish Clans on issues regarding the establishment and continued existence of Irish Clan Societies
  •  To provide opportunities to increase awareness among the general public regarding Irish Clans, Family history and Gaelic Culture

Membership of Finte na hÉireann ~ Clans of Ireland is restricted to those Irish Clans and traditional family groupings who’s surname is of Irish origin or who have a presence in Ireland prior to the Great Famine (1845-1862). As such the Register of Clans of Ireland includes families of Irish, Norse, Norman, Scots, Gallowglass, Huguenot, and Quaker origins.
