Dear Barbara, I can help since Mariah Tully was my great grandmother

[Barbara Badorrek 2011-03-01 12:34:04]: I am new to geneology and have just started on Ancestry.com and came upon this link.  My great-great grandmother was Mariah(maria) Tully from Mayo, Ireland and was born abt 1867/68.  Not sure when she came to the US, but married Joseph P. Janson in NY and they lived in Rye, NY for awhile and had 7/8 children and eventually moved to Newburgh, NY where they died, not sure of the year.  The children are:  Joseph, John, Walter(died1942), James, Ann Louise (died 1989), Helen and Alice. If anyone can help me with more Tully info, I would be grateful.   Than

My great grandfather was Thomas Tully born abt 1880 in County Mayo. The family moved to Troy, New York. He married Mary Cunningham (1911) died In Chicago, IL 1946. I have not had any luck researching information on his family.

My name is Seanna Tully, and I attended University Illinois Chicago for Medical Sociology and studied herbal medicine at Chicago College of Healing Arts and Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.   I am currently practicing nutrition and herbal medicine at WholeHealth Chicago, where I am also clinical services manager for their Apothecary.

i am from a long-standing Chicago Tully family, since 1850's in Bridgeport, and later, (1960's-onward) Lake Villa IL.

My Great, Great Grandfather (James Tully b. 1816) immigrated from Cavan Ireland 1847. Not sure of the townland. We know that his father was John and supposedly his mother had the maiden name of Carolls (sp?). He married Mary Smith (Smyth) in 1849 in Adams county Illinois. They moved to Missouri after having several children. There was a Patrick Tully in the same church they attended in Illinois, however I don't think we are related... at least not closely.

I'm a Ph. D candidate in History. My day job is working in a library. I suppose reading and writing are my expertise. I've done a little bit of Tully genealogy of my own and I've been able to get back as far as the 1820 Census, and will be willing to share what I've gleaned.

No it has not. There has been no official Clan Tully reunion, but we hope to have one this year or next. There are plenty of Tullys in Australia, South Africa, Canada, New Zealand, and  America- so timing as well as cost is a factor.

Of course, as its been stated before, the very best idea would to have one back home in Ireland.  We'll be sure to update everyone on that possibility. Please stay connected through these forums and also on our Clan Tully Newsletter "The Wolves Head"

WELL I HAVE TRACED MY FAMILY TREE, TO 1911 WHEN MY GREAT GRANDFATHER  LIVED IN BEAUTFORT ST LIVERPOOL, UK.T.....HE CENSUS SHOWS THAT HE CAME FROM A VILLAGE  CALLED CLANDOLKIN IN IRELAND, HIS NAME WAS JAMES TULLY, AND MARRIED A GIRL CALLED DELIA CRANE ,FROM LIVERPOOL,........ HER FAMILY ALSO FROM IRELAND , GALWAY ,........IN OTHER BRANCHES OF THE FAMILY TREE , THEY ALSO GO BACK TO IRELAND,, ......JUST THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE THAT WITH YOU ,,,,       .....................AND PROUD TO BE A ...TULLY!
